It is widely regarded that, since Covid and the changing workplace environment that it caused, Cloud adoption has outpaced the security strategies meant to protect it.

IBM have stated that over 70% of data breaches in 2025 involved data stored in the Cloud. Most businesses have moved their workloads into the Cloud to find workplace efficiencies, such as document collaboration, and remote access for staff who are not in the office, but not all of them have advanced their thinking around Cloud security.  Or they have made false assumptions about security levels in the Cloud and who is responsible to maintain and update this security.

The shared responsibility model seems to sow confusion. Cloud providers secure their infrastructure, but the data uploaded and stored by their customers is not their concern. Where do your vulnerabilities lie?

If you wish to place your data in a Cloud environment, and bear in mind that Eminance can be Cloud based should you wish it to through our EMC version, read the small print.  Ensure that there is clear, known and agreed responsibility for the safety of your data and for the backup regime.

Of course if you run your own personal Cloud in your practice, using EMC, then you won't have these concerns as the safety aspect will be covered by your existing network you are already maintaining and you can always easily submit a monthly Eminance Cloud backup to us, which we will validate and keep for 6 months.
